Woodex 2019’s exciting business programme of events

Woodex 2019 will be accompanied by a series of 11 dedicated industry events, featuring over 50 expert speakers

Here’s what’s in store at Woodex 2019 next week.

3 December



Day 1 of the exhibition will open with the analytical session ‘An overview of the current state of the forestry industry: logging, sales markets, sales, growth drivers, prices, investment projects, forecasts, problems’. Speakers will include Ali Kilich (Kastamonu), Pavel Artemyev (Lesresurs-Rusforest) alongside other forestry industry experts. The session will be moderated by Marina Zotova (WhatWood).

The afternoon will start with the conference ‘An overview of wood board industry businesses: analysing the current situation and case studies from manufacturers’. Alexander Shalashov (VNIIDREV), Sergey Emelyanov (IKEA Industry Novgorod), Ali Kylich (Kastamonu), Evgeny Walter (WALTER Construction), Mikhail Karpachevsky (FSC Russia) will all speak at the conference. Chairing the conference will be Zhanna Martynova (VVS), a member of Russia’s CCI Committee on Foreign Economic Affairs.


The conference ‘Production automation in the furniture industry’ will close Woodex’s opening day. Expert speakers will talk about innovations: Petr Smolentsev (KUKA Russia), Dmitry Kainov (FANUC), Mikhail Prokopyev (Yaskawa), Sergey Labutin (GeoS CAD Development Center), Dmitry Gyumyushlyu (I-TOOLS), Gleb Frolov (Phaeton).

4 December

Co-organised by Woodex’s Event Partner the National Association of the Door Industry/NADI, the conference ‘Comparative analysis of Russian and imported equipment for wooden door production’ will open Day 2.

Following the conference session is the event ‘Creative wood: ideas, production, market’. The session will focus on the design of wooden furniture and joinery and will feature speakers such as Georgy Burlakov (Bonitacasa), Natalya Loginova (Center for Fashion and Design of the All-Russian Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art), Elena Razdomakhina (project Idea Factory, Leroy Merlin), Oleg Petrov (Silver HOME), Igor Khukhryansky (Studio Mebeli), designer Olga Mikkova, Tatyana Babkova, and Svetlana Katargina (Perinne). The session will be chaired by Anastasia Krylova (ASPD, MCCI).

The final event of Day 2 will be the conference on ‘The chemical industry for woodworking’. The conference will feature experts from the Department of the Chemical-Technological Complex and Bioengineering Technologies of the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, as well as representatives of the Scientific and Technical Center Himvest and the State Scientific Center GNIIKhTEOS. Representatives of Tikkurila, Homa, and Stroy-Cottage will also speak. The conference will be moderated by Igor Lyashkov (Himvest, Ministry of Industry and Trade).

5 December


Day 3 will open with the case session ‘A formula for the success of furniture companies: how to establish production, increase volumes and enter new markets’. Among the speakers will be Vadim Bezborodov (IKEA Industry Novgorod), and Efim Katz (Maria). Chairing the session will be Valeria Kiselevskaya (Moscow Export Centre).


The afternoon will see the conference ‘Managing innovation in the forestry sector’ held by the SKOLKOVO Moscow School of Management.


The programme will end with the seminar ‘SEMA software for computer-aided design of wooden houses, structures and stairs’, organised by Phaeton.

All major events will take place in Pavilion 1, Hall 1, Main Hall.

Media partners will also hold their own events. On 3 December, the conference ‘Fuel pellets, briquettes and chips: production, sales, consumption’ will take place from 10-6pm, organised by IAA INFOBIO, International Bioenergy magazine and NP National Bioenergy Union.

On 4 December, the conference ‘Glued wood: new markets and technologies for timber merchants’ will take place from 10-2pm, organised by LesPromInform magazine. Both events will take place in Pavilion 1, Conference Room C. Admission is subject to prior registration.
